Let’s Prep:
Slice the strawberries and let’s get baking! (it’s easy!)
Prepping for this delicious recipe couldn’t be any simpler. This easy dessert recipe only has a handful of ingredients that compliment each other well and don’t take much time to get ready or prep. Simply slice your strawberries, and get the rest of your ingredients ready like the refrigerated biscuits and your sugar. That’s it! It really is amazing in what the natural sweetness of strawberries and the sugar combine to become. Leaving you with a delicious fruit flavor and a syrup that soaks into the nooks and crannies of the biscuit for that deep intense strawberry flavor.Once your strawberries are sliced to your liking, add a TBSP of sugar onto them in a bowl and cover with plastic wrap and put in the fridge. Magic will happen here as the sugar penetrates the fruit and pushes out the water that will make a delicious syrup which will be even more delicious the longer that you can let it sit. If you need this recipe quickly, leaving the strawberries in the fridge long enough for the sugar-coated biscuits to cook is awesome. If you’re able to leave it in for a few hours or even overnight, it’ll be that much better! Don’t be upset if this is a last minute recipe, that’s ok! These will still be delicious, and nobody will be the wiser.Let’s Cook:
Time to build the sandwich !
Now that we’ve got everything prepped that we need to and the strawberries are soaking, it’s time to bake the biscuits. These will be baked to the instructions on the package, however before we do that we’re simply going to roll them in white table sugar before putting in the oven. The sugar sticks to the biscuit dough perfectly without any need to use any sort of binding substance. Just be careful to let the sugar sit on the outside of the dough and not push it too far into the biscuit dough. We want the sugar sitting on the outside, so the biscuit cooks the way it’s supposed to. When it’s in the oven, the biscuits will bake like they should and be coated with a crispy, sweet treat on the outside. These are really something special. Once the biscuits are done let’s put it all together.Pro Tip – a whipped cream dispenser comes in handy here!Let’s Eat:
You’ve never had a strawberry so good!
Once the biscuits are done cooking, remove from oven and let them cool for about 10 minutes or until they are cool to the touch. This will serve 2 functions. We want them to be cool to the touch so that we don’t burn our fingers while workign with them. Also we don’t want the whipped cream to melt into a soupy mess. From there, split your biscuits in half put a layer of whipped cream on one side, then pile on strawberries. This can either be served as an “open-faced” sandwich or traditional, the choice is yours. Either way – you’ll be making this more than once!If you’ve tried this recipe, or plan on it – leave me a comment below to let me know!
