Ingredients / Tools You’ll Need

4 Hot Dogs
4 slices of bacon (each a perfect piece of bacon)
4 Whole Dill Pickles
Ranch or BBQ Seasoning
A baking sheet
A tooth pick
Extra hot dog buns

Four bacon-wrapped hot dogs secured with toothpicks are cooking on a grill grate. The grill is open, showing the smoky chamber and the sausages positioned evenly on the hot surface.

Instructions

Preparation
I preheated my smoker (oven works too) to 350°F on medium heat. I sliced each pickle and removed 1/4 of the pickle by making a V shaped cut to form the Pickle Hot Dog Bun. Using a small spoon, or measuring spoon, scoop out the inside of the pickle, and save those guts for later! Next up – grab your bacon!

Cooking
I wrapped every hot dog in a bacon‑wrapped pickle and secured them with a tooth pick on each end. I arranged the hot dog buns on a wire rack and put on the smoker – use a baking sheet if cooking in the oven, and let the dish cook for the total time of 40–45 minutes. I kept an eye on the process, making sure the strip of bacon turned into crispy bacon with slices of bacon that were perfectly done.

Two hot dogs wrapped in crispy bacon are placed on a grill rack. They are secured with toothpicks to keep the bacon in place. The grill marks indicate they are being cooked evenly.
