Prepping this dish couldn’t be any easier. There’s only a few ingredients needed and once you have them all, and a clean work surface – you’re ready to go! One thing you’re going to want to make sure that you do is leave your puff pastry out to defrost about 30 minutes. This will make it pliable and easy to work with.

Prepping this couldn’t be any easier – lay out your puff pastry, then brush on your Dijon, and hot honey and lay down your sausage and roll it up. That’s the simple method, let’s walk through it.

Brush on a layer of Dijon mustard, about 2 TBSP will do – however if you want a little more – then go nuts! I’m a huge fan of hot honey, so I laid on about a 1:1 ratio of hot honey to Dijon for this easy appetizer recipe.

Grab a smoked sausage from the store, the pre-made ones are good enough to wear you don’t need to make your own – but if you find your favorite, this easy appetizer recipe will be much better tailored to you.

Be sure to trim your puff pastry to the same size as your sausage for this easy appetizer recipe. If you see the video I did trim the sausage as it was in a “U” shape – I trimmed it down to be a straight piece, and just cooked the extra sausage separately and that is the piece that’s just for me and doesn’t make it to the serving table!

Easy appetizer recipe coming up!

Once you’ve gotten your puff pastry rolled up around the sausage and the food skewered with toothpicks, it’s time to cook this easy appetizer recipe. I like to cook this easy appetizer recipe on a parchment-lined baking sheet. I’ve found that this is an easy way to cook these to get the most even cooking, and since the puff pastry will be a little malleable at the beginning so this will keep the best shape.

Let’s Eat:

Once your puff pastry is cooked through you’re done. That’s it! There’s only one ingredient that needs to be cooked in this recipe – so that makes it nice and easy. When you remove the sausage pinwheels from the smoker or oven they are going to be hot – let them rest for a few minutes, then serve with your favorite dipping sauce.
