Let’s Prep:

This dill pickle cheez its recipe is a breeze to pull together, which is part of the charm. Here’s what you’ll need:

Ingredients:

  • 4 C Cheez-Its
  • 1 pint Dill Pickle Chips (16 oz)
  • 2 TBSP Dill Pickle Juice
  • 1 TBSP Dried Dill Weed
  • 1 tsp Ranch Seasoning
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Citric Acid
A container of Grillos Pickles rests on a wooden surface. It is filled with sliced classic dill pickles in brine. The label on the container features a pickle character and the word chips.

Start by preheating the oven to 275°F to start dehydrating the pickles.  If you have a dehydrator, that will work too – we just want to pull all of the moisture out of them to get them crispy. This will take roughly an hour to do. The pickles will likely dehydrate at different speeds. Remove the ones that finish first, and keep an eye on them as we don’t want them to char.

This dill pickle cheez its recipe makes just enough to fill a baking sheet, but you can easily scale it. A regular box has about 4 cups of Cheez-Its, so adjust depending on how much snack magic you want to create.  If for whatever reason your local grocery store doesn’t have Cheez-Its, and cheese crackers will do just fine.

You can even do dill pickle cheez its with regular saltines, my favorite is the mini saltines.  After this you’ll be wondering why boxes of dill pickle cheez its aren’t on the shelves everywhere.  This is an easy recipe that’s a perfect snack with all of that classic Cheez flavor you’re hoping for.  (see what I did there?!)

Cook Dill Pickle Cheez Its:

Here’s how I turned basic Cheez-Its into the ultimate Dill Pickle Cheez-Its:

Mix the seasonings—dried dill, garlic powder, onion powder, citric acid, ranch, and salt—in a bowl or shaker bottle. This is where all that bold flavor starts. Add the pickle juice to the Cheez-Its. Toss gently so the juice coats every cracker. This should be just enough to cover, not enough to saturate the crackers and make them soggy. The juice is what helps the seasoning stick, so don’t skip this step!

A black container filled with dried artichoke leaves is placed on a patterned wooden surface. The leaves have a brownish hue, indicating they have been dehydrated.

Sprinkle the seasoning mixture over the dill pickle cheez its, tossing them with a rubber spatula, or your hand to coat evenly. Be gentle here—you don’t want to crush your crackers. Spread the crackers out in a single layer on a parchment-lined, or non-stick baking sheet.

Bake the dill pickle cheez its for 15–20 minutes, giving them a stir halfway through to make sure everything dries evenly. Once done, let them cool to room temperature before packing them into an airtight container. The cooling step is super important—it’s what keeps them crunchy.

Time to Dig In

When I say these dill pickle cheez its crackers are addictive, I mean it. The combination of cheesy crunch and dill pickle tang is the snack world’s version of perfection. They’re great on their own, but they also play well with others. Pair them with bagel chips, add them to a dill pickle chex mix, or even crush them up and use them as a topping for casseroles.

One of my favorite ways to enjoy these is with an ice-cold drink during movie nights. There’s just something about the tangy kick that pairs perfectly with a soda or a cold beer. And let’s be honest, they’re also just as good for sneaking handfuls straight out of the airtight container when no one’s looking.

Snack Hacks and Variations

Want to mix things up? Here are a few ideas:

– Add a sprinkle of fresh dill when done for a garden-fresh vibe.
– Go for an extra crunch by baking a few minutes longer. Just keep an eye on them so they don’t burn!
– Toss them with nuts or pretzels for an upgraded dill pickle ranch snack mix.
– Try drizzling a little olive oil before adding the seasoning for a richer flavor.
– If you’re a fan of spice, throw in a pinch of cayenne for a little heat. It’s a small tweak, but it adds a nice kick without overwhelming the dill pickle goodness.

Perfect for Every Occasion

Whether you’re planning snacks for game day, packing lunch for the kids, or just indulging your own cravings, Dill Pickle Cheez-Its are your go-to. The best part? They’re made with real ingredients, so you can feel good about swapping these for store-bought fake flavor options.

And if you’re in a time crunch, don’t worry. This recipe is so fast you can whip it up at the last minutes before guests show up. Trust me, they’ll think you planned it all along.

Storing Your Snacks

To keep these crackers fresh and crunchy, store them in an airtight container. They’ll stay good for up to a couple days, though I doubt they’ll last that long. Planning ahead? Make a double batch! They’re perfect for gifting, road trips, or stashing away for those late-night cravings.

Final Thoughts

If you’re a fan of dill pickles, this snack is a no-brainer. It’s crunchy, tangy, cheesy, and ridiculously easy to make. From game day spreads to casual snacking, these Dill Pickle Cheez-Its hit every mark.

So, grab your ingredients, preheat your oven, and get ready to create the snack of all snacks. Trust me, once you try these, you’ll never look at a plain old cheese cracker the same way again.  Maybe you’ll be inspired for something else, perhaps dill pickle cheetos?

  • 1 pint Dill Pickle Chips
  • 2 TBSP Dill Pickle Juice
  • 1 TBSP Dried Dill Weed
  • 1 tsp Ranch Seasoning
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Citric Acid

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 275F place dill pickle chips on wire rack and bake them for about 1 hour, or until they are dried and crispy but not burnt. Flip halfway – time may vary on these, and some pickles may cook faster due to size, keep an eye on them and remove the pickles as they get crispy.
  • While pickles are in the oven, strain the remaining pickle juice in the container and set aside.
  • When pickle chips are crisp, remove from oven and grind them up as finely as you can. Note you can also chop these or use a rolling pin to get this ground.
  • In a mixing bowl or shaker bottle add dill, garlic powder, onion powder, citric acid and salt. Stir well to create a flavorful coating.
  • Add the Cheez-Its to the bowl and toss in pickle juice, this will act as your binder for the seasoning. Gently toss until they’re evenly coated with the dill pickle mixture. Be careful not to crush the crackers or saturate them in the pickle juice.
  • Spread the coated Cheez-Its in a single layer on a parchment-lined, or nonstick baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 10- 15 minutes, toss halfway through to ensure even drying, and taking care to make sure they don't burn. Oven cook temps will vary, keep an eye on them.
  • Dust crackers one more time once out of oven with the pickle seasoning.
  • Allow the crackers to cool completely before transferring them to an airtight container or serving.
