If you’re on the hunt for the ultimate ham and cheese rollup, you’re in the right place. This recipe is simple, packed with flavor, and has just the right balance of tangy pickles, melty cheese, and salty ham. It’s my go-to when I want something quick, satisfying, and guaranteed to be a hit at any gathering. Whether you’re a pickle lover or just someone looking for an easy appetizer recipe, these pickle roll-ups will not disappoint.

A block of cheddar cheese, a package of mozzarella cheese slices, a can of crescent rolls, and a sliced dill pickle are arranged on a wooden surface in prep for making ham and cheese rollup

Let’s Prep

First things first: gather your simple ingredients. You’ll need a tube of crescent roll dough, 8 dill pickle spears, 8 slices of deli ham (or slices of deli ham from your favorite deli counter), and an 8 oz block of cheddar cheese. Trust me, fresh ingredients make all the difference here.

Start by preheating your oven or smoker to 350°F. While it’s warming up, roll out the crescent dough and separate it into 8 triangles. Keep them at room temperature—it makes the dough much easier to handle. Next, slice your cheddar into strips wide enough to fit on the dough triangles.

Lay everything out in an assembly line. This makes putting together the ham and cheese rollup super quick and keeps things tidy. Don’t forget a paper towel to pat dry your dill pickle spears. This step is key! If they’re too wet, the dough might not stick properly, and no one wants a soggy appetizer of any kind, especially not this ham and cheese rollup.

Let’s Cook

To start rolling a ham and cheese rollup do the following: With the wide end of the triangle closest to you, start layering: one slice of deli ham, a strip of cheddar cheese, and a dill pickle spear right on top. Sprinkle a little garlic seasoning for an extra burst of flavor—I love using Oh My Garlic for this step. Roll it all up snugly, starting from the wide end and working your way to the tip.

Once rolled, place each ham and cheese rollup on a baking sheet. For easy cleanup, I like to line the sheet with plastic wrap or parchment paper. Pop the ham and cheese rollup into your preheated oven or smoker and let the magic happen.

Cooking times may vary, so keep an eye on these tasty little bites starting at the 15-minute mark. For me, 20-25 minutes is the sweet spot for these ham and cheese rollup. You’ll know they’re ready when the crescent dough is a perfect golden brown. The best part? Your kitchen will smell absolutely amazing while they bake.

Let’s Eat

Once out of the oven or smoker, let the ham and cheese rollup cool for a couple of minutes before serving, so you don’t burn your mouth on that molten cheddar (we’ve all been there). These are a great snack option for any occasion: game day, family gatherings, or just a random Tuesday afternoon when you’re craving something delicious. Just don’t forget about a good ham and cheese rollup!

The crispy crescent dough paired with the tangy pickle, salty ham, and gooey cheese creates great flavors in every bite. Serve these bite-sized appetizers on a platter with a side of ranch seasoning mix for dipping, and you’ve got the perfect party appetizer. For those who prefer a little twist, swap in sweet pickles or add a sprinkle of fresh dill for a different flavor profile.

These ham and cheese rollups are also an excellent make-ahead appetizer. Store them in an airtight container and pop them in the fridge. They’ll stay fresh and ready for your next snack attack.

The whole recipe is quick, easy, and uses simple ingredients you probably already have. Whether you’re hosting a Super Bowl party or looking for a perfect make-ahead appetizer, these rollups are always a huge hit. Plus, they’re low carb and totally customizable. Next time, I might even add green onions or swap cheddar for pepper jack to spice things up.

If you’re into pickle appetizers or want to impress your guests with some pickle wraps, this is the recipe for you. They’re the best appetizers for any occasion, and I guarantee they’ll disappear in minutes. Seriously, the only downside is you might need to double the batch next time!
