Leftover pulled pork? NO PROBLEM! I got you. Confession: Loaded Fries are my weakness. I love french fries, and I love meat and cheese and toppings. I love them way more when they are piled on top of each other. This loaded fries recipe is one of my favorites, and a staple at my house.
This loaded fries recipe has a ton of flavors that work incredibly well together. When I come up with my recipes, I’m always looking for familiar flavors that are used in new ways. This is the perfect example of that! This is a like a delicious pulled pork sandwich that’s on fries instead of a bun!
Let’s Prep:
Before we can get to the loaded fries, we’ve got to have all of our ingredients and toppings ready. This is a simple recipe that only contains a hand full of items, however the star of the show is the pulled pork. For this recipe I used my Cherry Pulled Pork recipe. It’s an absolutely delicious way to cook pulled pork by first marinating the meat in Cherry Dr. Pepper overnight then seasoning, and smoking to completion.
Aside from that prepping consists of chopping your pickles, and onions and making sure you’ve got BBQ Sauce!
Let’s Cook:
Loaded Fries are in site!
The seasoning I used for this recipe is the Queen Bee.
Once you’ve cooked the seasoned fries (you can do this in the oven or smoker) at the same time and temperature. (Shirt available in my store), it’s time to add the cheeses and toppings. I like to cook the red onions at this point as well. You could do this without, by putting the red onions on last with the pickles (or completely omitting) should you choose.
This loaded fries recipe is awesome to eat no matter how you cook it. Time, temperature and technique will be the same no matter whether you use an oven or a smoker for this. Only difference as you’re probably already thinking is the smoke flavor. It’s hard to replicate that in this recipe, but if you really wanted to, you could add liquid smoke to your favorite BBQ Sauce to emulate some of the flavor. Go slow with the liquid smoke though – it’s strong!
Let’s Eat:
When it’s time to eat, you have a few options for serving this dish. It can be for a meal, for an appetizer, or for a snack. When I’ve made this for family and friends it’s been all of the above. This is a great recipe to put for guests and you won’t even have to worry about getting plates out. This is a finger-licking, “off the board” sort of food that crowds don’t mind sharing. Be prepared to make more.
