Ingredients

  • 8 Crescent Rolls: (1 Tube) These will form the delicious, flaky blanket for our pickle recipe.
  • 2 Whole Dill Pickles, quartered: I used whole dills for this pickle recipe because that’s what I had at home, but you can use pre-sliced dill pickle spears if you prefer.
  • 4 strips of Bacon, cooked crispy: Adds a smoky, savory punch.
  • 1 TBSP Ranch Seasoning: For that extra layer of flavor.
  • 1/3 cup Cheddar Cheese, shredded: Because who doesn’t love cheese?
  • 4 oz Cream Cheese, softened: The creamy base for our filling.
  • Egg for Egg Wash: Helps achieve that beautiful golden brown finish, as well as holding on the sesame seeds to go on top of this pickle recipe.
  • Sesame Seeds for garnish: Optional, but highly recommended for an extra touch of flavor and texture.

Prepping the Ingredients

Pickles: Start by prepping your pickles. If you’re using whole dill pickles like I did, slice them into quarters lengthwise. This will give you spears that fit perfectly inside the crescent rolls. If you’re using pre-sliced dill pickle spears, you can skip this step.

Bacon: For this pickle recipe cook your bacon until it’s nice and crispy. Once it’s done, crumble it into small pieces. The crispy bacon will add a delightful crunch and a smoky flavor that complements the tanginess of the pickles.

Cheese Mixture: In a bowl, mix together the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, crumbled bacon, and ranch seasoning. Make sure everything is well incorporated, so each bite is packed with flavor.

Now that our ingredients are prepped and ready, it’s time to get cooking. This part is quick and easy, so let’s dive in.

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F. This ensures it’s at the perfect temperature when we’re ready to bake our Pickles in a Blanket.
  2. Lay Down the Crescent Rolls: On a clean surface, unroll the crescent rolls. Spread them out so you have eight triangles ready to go.
  3. Spread the Cheese Mixture: Take a spoonful of the cheese mixture and spread a thin layer over each crescent roll triangle, starting from the larger end. This creamy layer is going to melt beautifully and wrap around the pickle spear, creating a delicious filling.
  4. Add the Pickle Spears: Place a pickle spear at the larger end of each crescent roll triangle. The pickle spear should be fully covered by the crescent roll when we roll them up.
  5. Roll Them Up: Starting from the larger end, carefully roll each crescent roll until it’s fully wrapped around the pickle spear. Place them seam-side down on a baking sheet.
  6. Egg Wash and Sesame Seeds: Brush each roll with an egg wash. This will give them a lovely golden brown color when they bake. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top for a bit of extra flavor and a nice visual touch.
  7. Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 13-15 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.
  8. Rest: Once they’re done baking, remove them from the oven and transfer them to a plate or cooling rack. Let them rest for about 5 minutes to allow the filling to set and to cool down enough to handle.

Let’s Eat

The moment you’ve been waiting for – it’s time to dig in! These Pickles in a Blanket are best enjoyed fresh out of the oven when they’re still warm and the cheese is perfectly melty.
