Why You’ll Love This Recipe

The biscuit calzones recipe uses simple ingredients like pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, and slices of pepperoni, all wrapped up in flaky biscuit calzone dough. Everything bakes up in one batch on a cookie sheet - no fancy tools or techniques needed. You can mix and match the filling with any cheese mixture or favorite pizza toppings you have on hand.

Ingredients / Tools You’ll Need

• 1 Refrigerated Biscuit Dough
• 24 Pepperoni Slices
• 2 C Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
• 1 C Pizza Sauce
• 4 tablespoon Salted Butter
• 2 tablespoon Parsley, chopped
• 1 tablespoon Basil, chopped
• 1 tablespoon Oregano, chopped
• Rolling Pin
• Small Bowl
• Cookie Sheet
• Parchment Paper
• Fork

Instructions

Preparation

Preheat your oven to 350°F and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Pop open your store-bought dough and separate the biscuits. One at a time, place a biscuit between two sheets of parchment and roll it out into an oval shape using a rolling pin this will form the shape for the biscuit calzones.

Once the biscuit calzones are all flattened, you’re ready to assemble your mini calzones. Spoon 1-2 teaspoons of pizza sauce onto one side of each biscuit round. Top with mozzarella cheese, a couple slices of pepperoni, and a pinch of chopped herbs.

Folding the Dough

Fold dough over the filling to form your biscuit calzones. Use a fork to press edges together and seal them well. Make sure to pinch edges tight so nothing leaks while baking.

Place each calzone on your cookie sheet with space in between. This helps them cook evenly and lets that golden brown finish shine through.

Cooking

Melt the butter and stir in the parsley, basil, and oregano in a small bowl. Brush the tops of the mini calzones with the butter mixture. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the biscuit calzones are puffed and golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let them cool for about 5 minutes. This gives the cheese inside a chance to settle and keeps you from burning your mouth.

Serving Suggestions

Serve these easy calzones with extra pizza sauce or ranch on the side for dipping. They’re perfect on a game-day snack board or as a casual dinner with a side salad. You can even throw them in a lunchbox - they reheat like a dream.

Recipe Notes & Pro Tips

Keep your work surface clean and parchment-lined to prevent sticking. Don’t overload the filling - too much will make it hard to seal and might burst open. Want to elevate it? Brush the tops with garlic butter and sprinkle with parmesan cheese.

Variations

Swap slices of pepperoni for cooked sausage, bacon bits, or chopped veggies. Try different cheeses in your cheese mixture - provolone, cheddar, or a sprinkle of parmesan cheese work great. Use pizza dough or crescent dough instead of store-bought biscuit dough if that’s what you have.

Mini calzones are totally customizable and a great way to use up leftovers. They’re also a fun one to make with kids - everyone can add their own favorite pizza toppings. This is one of those easy recipes that always hits the spot and never gets old.

So the next time you’ve got some store-bought biscuit dough in the fridge, skip the usual and make a batch of these biscuit calzones. They’re quick, cheesy, and totally irresistible.
