A secure seam is the key to keeping the melted filling contained while the dough bakes. Let them rest briefly before serving so the cheese is easier to handle.
Why This Recipe Works
Keeping the filling away from the edges leaves enough clean dough for a firm seal, helping prevent cheese from escaping in the oven. The egg wash encourages even browning and helps the seasoning stay in place.

Ingredients
- 1 tube refrigerated pizza dough
- 8 ounces finely shredded cheddar cheese
- 3 to 4 ounces spray Cheez Whiz
- 1 egg for egg wash
- everything bagel seasoning to taste
How to Make It
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Lay out pizza dough and cut it into three equal strips longways.

On each strip, put cheddar cheese, followed by three or four passes of spray cheese, then another pinch of cheddar cheese all the way down. Make sure to leave the sides open so they'll pinch together well.

Pinch up the sides, bring them each side up and pinch together. Do that all the way down and make sure there’s no cheese showing .
Trim off any excess dough at the ends, but make sure they're sealed. Place onto baking sheet, brush with egg wash, and top with everything bagel seasoning.

Place into preheated oven for 15 to 18 minutes until golden brown, but not burning. Remove from oven when finished.

Allow to cool for about 10 minutes. Serve hot.
Tips and Variations
Check the seams carefully for exposed cheese before baking, and avoid overfilling the strips. The pretzels are ready when the dough looks golden and set; very dark spots are a sign they may be nearing overbrowning. Cool for about 10 minutes before handling, since the filling will be very hot.
