This is one of those really fun recipes that will “WOW” your party guests and family at the holidays. This unique combination is not one you see often, but one that everyone loves. Turning crackers into dill pickle saltines is a must!
Let’s Prep:
Take your box (11 oz) of mini saltines (soon to be dill pickle saltines !) and place them inside of an aluminum pan. This is by far the best way to make this recipe, though if you don’t have an aluminum pan you could mix them up in a bowl and place on a wire rack to cook, however that is going to take much longer to move and cook. It can be done – just not recommended.

Mix up all of the ingredients in a bowl or mixing cup (except for the saltine crackers) make sure to mix this very well – take your time here as the ingredients could clump together and settle at the bottom. This is perfectly normal – stir well and pour over your crackers. If you need to stop in the middle and stir again that’s not a problem, you want the mixture to be as even as possible when pouring on, so that the crackers cover as evenly as possible. Your dill pickle saltines are coming along nicely at this point!
Let’s Cook:

Preheat your smoker, and place your pan with the crackers in. This is a really easy cook, the biggest part of this is making sure that you get an even cook and smoke on the crackers. These cook for a total of 30 minutes, and you’ll want to mix or toss them every 10 minutes to ensure an even coating of smoke flavor. Many of my recipes can be cooked in the over OR smoker – this is one of them, just be aware that if you cook these in the oven you’ll be missing out on the delicious smoke flavor.

Let’s Eat:
Once the crackers have been on the smoker for 30 minutes and they’ve been tossed a few times, it’s time to bring them off and fight away your family and friends that are ready to chomp on these. Fair warning these will be hot, so you want to let them cool for a few minutes before eating. This will also allow the butter to fully absorb into the crackers and make them less greasy. These dill pickle saltines are so delicious!
